RSS to discuss 'Muslim appeasement' at meet

[RxPG] Lucknow, March 9 - A three-day convention of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh - began here Friday, a month before the assembly polls begin in Uttar Pradesh. At least 1,400 delegates are taking part in the closed-door meet.
While the RSS said it was aimed at discussing socio-economic and defence-related issues facing the country, sources said it was meant to chalk out a strategy to push the Hindutva agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party - in the April-May assembly polls.
Ram Madhav, an RSS national executive committee member, flatly denied a political agenda. 'RSS has nothing political on its agenda,' he stressed while admitting that the meet would discuss the 'Muslim appeasement' policy of non-BJP governments.
The opening session on Friday noon witnessed the participation of BJP president Rajnath Singh. Along with him was Vishwa Hindu Parishad - chief Ashok Singhal.
The sources said discussions would focus on not only preparing a poll guideline for the BJP but also for the RSS rank and file as to how they would assist the party in spreading the Hindutva agenda among the masses.
'This is a crucial policy planning meeting to prepare an action plan to tackle key issues like appeasement of a few, rising terrorist activities, the central government's open invitation to multinationals to set up their giant retail business, suicide by poverty-driven farmers and uncontrolled inflation and price rise,' Madhav told reporters.
According to him, 'Certain other issues like the Setusamudram project for Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu and the misuse of funds by the trust running the Tirupathi temple in Andhra Pradesh would also find prominence in the discussions over three days.'
Photographers and camerapersons were allowed for first 10 minutes of the inaugural session. 'We will hold a press briefing on Saturday and Sunday,' said Madhav.

He said that 'Muslim appeasement' was high on the agenda of the party and would be raised as a key election issue in the state.
