[RxPG] New Delhi, Nov 24 - A 22-year-old woman who was hit by a minibus was dumped in a drain in southwest Delhi before she bled to death Wednesday, police said Friday.

Police said that Kumari Baby was returning home from work Wednesday evening when she was hit by a minibus at the Madhu Vihar bus stand in southwest Delhi. They said that Baby was going to Dabri where she stayed with her parents.

According to the police, Baby was profusely bleeding and needed immediate medical care. Police said the driver of the minibus, Tejveer Singh, 27, was caught by the bystanders at the bus stop and was allowed to go only after he promised to take Baby to a nearby hospital.

'The driver had promised other commuters that he would take Baby to a hospital but he instead dumped her in a drain. We suspect that Baby could have been saved if she were given proper medical attention,' said Ravindra Yadav, deputy commissioner of police.

'We arrested the driver Friday,' he said.

The woman was discovered in the drain after her family lodged a missing complaint at the police station when she failed to return home late Wednesday night, Yadav said.
