A Nepali couple captured the world's imagination by tying the knot at the summit, schoolgirl Ming Kipa Sherpa was the youngest climber to scale the peak at the age of 15 and 'Everest Express' Pemba Dorjee holds the record for the fastest ascent with a timing of eight hours, 10 minutes.

[RxPG] Kathmandu, March 23 - He's no Elvis Presley or Michael Jackson. But that doesn't deter debutant Nepali singer Tashi Lakpa Sherpa from trying to create a world record with his new music album.

The 20-year-old guitar strummer from Nepal's mountaineering Sherpa community is readying to hit a real high note this summer when he launches 'Sherpini Kanchhi' - his new album of eight romantic ballads - atop Mt Everest, the highest peak in the world.

It's no idle dream. Two years ago, Tashi showed himself capable of peak performance when he launched a book on the 8,848-metre summit.

'I want people to know that mountaineers have multiple talents,' the singer-author-climber told reporters here. 'I want the world to know about Nepali people's creativity.'

Tashi has already scaled Mt Everest, called reverently Mt Cholomungma or the mother goddess by the Tibetans, twice before. If he succeeds this time as well, he will become the first singer, musician and author to have pulled off such a launch on the world's highest and headiest platform.

Tashi has other schemes up his sleeve for the years to come. He plans to create 20 Everest records, each one unique in its own way.

Nepal climbers hold some of the most breathtaking records atop the majestic mountain - first conquered by New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and Indian Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953.

However, the most eyebrow-raising climb was by Nepali Lakpa Tharke Sherpa last year when he stood on the summit and took off his clothes.
