[RxPG] Islamabad, May 16 - Four people were killed and five injured Wednesday as Afghan refugees exchanged fire with security forces who were trying to close their camp in south-western Pakistan, local media reported.

More than 5,000 local tribesmen and Afghan refuges blocked the road between Afghanistan and Pakistan as police and paramilitary forces tried to demolish the Jungle Pir Alizai refuge camp in Balochistan province a day after a government-set deadline for its closure had passed.

Four refugees were killed and five policemen and members of a local militia force were wounded as the two sides fired at each other, news channel Aaj TV said.

Security forces postponed the action after the clash.

Most of the Afghan refugee camps near the border have been targeted for closure amid claims that they are centres of militant recruiting and other menacing activities.

More than 35,000 refugees at the Jungle Pi Alizai camp who flooded into Pakistan after the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan are unwilling to return home because of their concerns over the security situation in their home country.
