[RxPG] Islamabad, May 16 - Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf has said that leaders of both India and Pakistan needed to 'step back and give up some ego' to achieve any lasting solution to problems confronting South Asia.
'The courage needed to compromise and reconcile is far greater than the courage needed to fight and confront,' he said while opening the 34th session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers - Tuesday.
Both the countries - have realised that no military solution was possible and were moving forward towards peace, which was also the demand of their people, he said.
'It is now up to the leadership and the governments of Pakistan and India to work for peace,' he said. 'We are moving successfully on dual track of confidence building measures and conflict resolution... and have made reasonable progress,' The News quoted him as saying.
Musharraf emphasised that dispute resolution would be possible if both the involved parties were 'prepared to step back and give up some ego' so as to achieve ultimate peace in the region.
