Musharraf rules out emergency in Pakistan

[RxPG] Islamabad, May 12 - Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf said Saturday there was no need to impose emergency in the country and urged the nation to stand united and peaceful.
'There is absolutely no requirement and absolutely no environment for taking such drastic measure so these undercurrents must stop,' Musharraf said while responding to questions about rumours of imposition of emergency in the country.
The official APP news agency quoted Musharraf as saying that the matter of reference against the suspended chief justice of Pakistan sent to the Supreme Judicial Council should not be politicised.
'Let the Supreme Court decide in the interest of the state and absolute justice,' he said.
