[RxPG] Islamabad, May 16 - Pakistan's acting Chief Justice Justice Rana Bhagwandas has appointed two senior Supreme Court judges to monitor the police investigation into the killing of the court's official Hammad Raza that is suspected to be a political murder.
The appointment was made by a court order after the slain official's widow, Shabana, expressed dissatisfaction with the police investigation.
Raza, additional registrar of the court, was believed to be a key defence witness in the case relating to the suspension of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry on charge of misuse of office.
He was shot at, reportedly from a point-blank range, by four gunmen who sneaked into his home early Monday morning.
The court order stated that Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar would examine the police reports, monitor the investigation and pass appropriate judicial orders in the case.
It stated that the Islamabad deputy inspector general and senior superintendent of police had been directed to submit daily progress reports on the murder investigation to the two judges.
Islamabad DIG Shahid Nadeem Baloch submitted a preliminary report of the case to the registrar's office Tuesday, reported The Daily Times.
