[RxPG] Islamabad, April 11 - Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Wednesday stressed 'a realistic exit strategy' for conflict-hit areas to settle global disputes that were the root causes of terrorism in the world, APP news agency said.

'We need to adopt a holistic approach to address a conflict situation by providing hope and opportunity to the people, engaging in reconstruction and rehabilitation and providing employment opportunities,' Aziz told a land forces symposium in Islamabad.

Senior military commanders of 22 countries are attending the two-day conference titled 'Common security and global war on terror' that is being co-hosted by the Pakistani and US militaries.

Aziz asserted that Islam had nothing to do with the scourge of terrorism that posed the most serious threat to global security.

According to him, the roots of global terrorism were the old and festering dispute of Palestine that was supplemented by recent conflict situations such as in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon.

'All these issues have fuelled a sense of injustice, anger, frustration and alienation, thereby providing willing recruits for the masterminds of terror,' he observed.

About Pakistan's role in the continuing war against terror in neighbouring Afghanistan, Aziz said the country joined the international campaign in its own national interest.

He said a secure and stable Afghanistan was in the strategic interest of Pakistan.
