[RxPG] Islamabad, May 16 - Two people were killed or injured in incidents of firing after a blast in a northwestern Pakistan town Wednesday.

The private Aaj TV reported that two persons were killed in the town of Tank near South Waziristan in the troubled Afghan border area. But there was no official confirmation.

Tank is in Pakistan's NorthWest Frontier Province, about 100 km from the Afghan border.

Reports suggest that unidentified men started firing in different parts after a blast near a police station. Security posts and property were said to have been attacked with rockets in a few hours of onslaught.

Shopkeepers closed down shops in panic and the city was deserted in minutes.

TV channels reported that students and government employees were confined, as they could not move out due to firing.

The local authorities in Tank had imposed temporary curfew Monday after unidentified men threw a hand grenade on a vehicle of security forces, killing a paramilitary soldier and injuring two others.

The Tank city had severe clashes in late March when hundreds of heavily armed militants attacked security forces in the city. Up to 25 militants were killed along with a soldier and a civilian in the town.
