[RxPG] Lucknow, May 20 - Two activists of the Samajwadi Party were killed in an Uttar Pradesh town after a clash with the supporters of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party - Sunday, police said.

The clash took place in Simraona town of Sultanpur district, about 150 km from here, in the afternoon.

'The victims were identified as Krishna Kumar Singh and Harphool Singh, the siblings who were supporters of the Samajwadi Party MLA elected recently,' a district police official said.

According to the police complaint, the brothers were returning from Faizabad when they were attacked brutally by rivals belonging to the BSP - which came to power beating the Samajwadi Party in the assembly elections this month - at the Simraona bus stand.

They were beaten with iron rods and canes. While one of them died on the spot the other succumbed to his injuries shortly after being hospitalised.

Police have arrested two BSP supporters, though the key culprits are still at large.

The victims' family described the crime as a 'pre-meditated and cold-blooded murder', simply because the brothers had taken out a procession to celebrate the victory of Sonu Singh of the Samajwadi Party.
