National Institute to be set up for Empowerment of Disabled People in India

The objective of the new Institute will be to undertake development of human resources for management, training, rehabilitation, education, employment and social development of persons with multiple disabilities
By PIB, India, [RxPG] The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA) in its meeting last evening decided to the setting up a National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities at Chennai at an estimated cost of Rs.61.90 crore which includes a notional land cost of Rs.39.20 crore.
The objective of the new Institute will be:
(a) To undertake development of human resources for management, training, rehabilitation, education, employment and social development of persons with multiple disabilities; and
(b) To promote and conduct research in areas relating to multiple disabilities and to develop trans-disciplinary models and strategies for social rehabilitation to meet the needs of diverse groups of people with multiple disabilities.
