Fashion frat comes together for cancer patients

[RxPG] India's fashion fraternity has found a new cause to support - cancer patients.
A group of 20 has come together to design and fabricate a range of scarves and stoles, T-shirts and shoulder bags that are on sale at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW) at The Grand hotel here with the proceedings going to the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA).
Sales on the two days it has been on have been "super cool", said an official of WLIFW organiser Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
"This is just the beginning of our association with FDCI. There is tremendous potential. I don't know how much it will raise but it will be a couple of lakh rupees, I can assure you," CPAA founder president Y.K. Sapru said.
"I'm not counting the rupees or dollars. They will come. What is more important is the credibility it gives to my association. There's a great deal of prestige that comes from associating with the top most fashion designers and is a model for other sectors to emulate," added Sapru, whose organisation is 37 years old and raises $3-4 million every year from all over the world.
FDCI director general Rathi Vinay Jha said: "I am delighted that our designers have chosen to extend their support to this worthy cause. FDCI has always believed in supporting cancer awareness. This year we are taking our commitment forward."
The designers are equally excited.
"It gives me such a nice feeling to be part of this effort," said designer Payal Jain, one of those who have contributed to the effort.
Other designers who have taken part are Abraham-Thakore, Ashima-Leena, Malini Ramani, Ritu Kumar and Satya Paul.
The scarves and stoles are priced Rs.1,250-1,500, T-shirts at Rs.1,000-Rs.1,750, small T-shirts at Rs.750 and bags at Rs.1,250-Rs.1,750.
