RCGP makes quality general practice tool available

Apr 20, 2005 - 7:37:00 PM
“QTDi provides practices with an ideal opportunity to prepare for the QOF as a team and also to reflect on the other less numeric aspects of quality and clinical governance. It provides a structure and process for the practice to develop a comprehensive quality driven development plan which incorporates the practice's unique team values”

[RxPG] The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is now offering its practice quality appraisal process, Quality Team Development (QTD), to individual practices.

QTD is an ongoing developmental process that primary health care teams use to evaluate their clinical governance processes. Until recently, practices could only use the QTD tool if their Primary Care Organisation (PCO) had signed up to undertake the process. Individual practices can now sign up without waiting for their PCO; this new process is known as QTDi – Quality Team Development for Individual Practices.

The Quality Team Development (QTD) process, is especially helpful in providing practices with the support to meet the needs of the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF). It also helps to improve team morale and acts as a catalyst for change within the practice.

Dr Nigel Sparrow, vice-chair of the RCGP and chair of the QTD scheme, said “QTDi provides practices with an ideal opportunity to prepare for the QOF as a team and also to reflect on the other less numeric aspects of quality and clinical governance. It provides a structure and process for the practice to develop a comprehensive quality driven development plan which incorporates the practice's unique team values.”
