Royal College of General Practitioners praises improvements in patient care

Sep 2, 2005 - 2:06:00 AM

[RxPG] The first national official results, in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, of the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) of the new contract for GPs are published today. On average each practice achieved 91% of the points available or 959 out of a possible 1050 points

“They show high levels of achievement. This is excellent news for patients. Patients with chronic diseases are having more check-ups than ever before. The results indicate better quality of care – from chronic disease management, to patient experience and medication reviews. For example this means fewer complications of conditions like diabetes, by preventing blindness and kidney failure in the long run.

“The results are world class and are watched eagerly by international health communities and governments. GPs and their practice teams should be congratulated for their hard work in delivering better patient care.”
