Yechury attends Nepal's Democracy Day celebrations

[RxPG] New Delhi, April 24 - Indian communist leader Sitaram Yechury, who played a crucial role in bringing Maoists into Nepal's political mainstream, was in Kathmandu Tuesday to attend the Himalayan country's Democracy Day celebrations.
'Yechury has been invited by the prime minister of Nepal to participate in the celebrations as chief guest,' said a release from the Communist Party of India-Marxist - office here.
Nepal is celebrating the first anniversary of the uprising that brought down the absolute rule of King Gyanendra one year ago.
Yechury, who left for Kathmandu Tuesday morning, is the first Indian politician to visit Nepal after the interim government took over the reins of that country.

After its restoration, Nepal's parliament had passed a resolution acclaiming Yechury's contribution to the restoration of democracy in Nepal.
