Super CitriMax®, A Plant Extract Influences Neuropeptides to Control Appetite and Decrease Body Weight

Apr 15, 2005 - 11:20:00 AM
"This study provides powerful new evidence on Super CitriMax's ability to influence brain chemicals and neuropeptides involved in appetite control and eating behavior."

[RxPG] Super CitriMax®, InterHealth Nutraceuticals' patented weight loss ingredient, has been shown to reduce levels of neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the hypothalamic tissue of animals. Prior research has shown that NPY significantly increases appetite in animals that were pre-satiated with a meal. This new study provides additional evidence of Super CitriMax's ability to reduce appetite and decrease body weight.

The study, which was presented at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Experimental Biology 2005 conference in San Diego on April 2-6, was conducted at University of Houston College of Pharmacy (Houston, TX).

"This study provides powerful new evidence on Super CitriMax's ability to influence brain chemicals and neuropeptides involved in appetite control and eating behavior," explained Professor Suny E. Ohia, Ph.D., Dean of Pharmacology at the University of Houston.

Previous animal and human studies have shown that Super CitriMax reduces appetite and decreases body weight, while increasing levels of serotonin, a vital neurotransmitter involved with appetite, sleep and mood.

A recent study published in Gene Expression (11:251-62, 2004) showed that Super CitriMax increased the activity of more than 90 genes involved with fat and carbohydrate metabolism, as well as an entire family of genes involved with the signaling activity of serotonin.

"Super CitriMax's ability to promote healthy serotonin levels in the body may prove beneficial in addressing many of the emotional issues dieters face, including binge-eating and depressed mood," stated Dr. Debasis Bagchi, Senior Vice President of Research and Development at InterHealth Nutraceuticals.

Super CitriMax is a patented plant extract derived from a South Asian fruit, which has been used for centuries throughout India and Southeast Asia to make meals more "filling." Super CitriMax works without stimulating the central nervous system, so it does not cause changes in heart rate and blood pressure or interfere with sleep, as do many popular diet aids such as caffeine and ephedra. Super CitriMax is a safe, all-natural dietary ingredient available in a variety of quality weight loss products.
