By IANS, [RxPG] New Delhi, Aug 26 - The Commonwealth Games organising committee Thursday said monitoring of the dengue status is being done on a daily basis and fogging would be intensified at Games venues to check spread of the disease.
Noting that it is a daunting task to check dengue at a time when the city is witnessing construction on a massive scale, Games Chief Medical Officer Bharat Inder Singh said that agencies -- Municipal Corporation of Delhi and New Delhi Municipal Council - - have been asked to give a daily report on the matter.
'We have asked them to intensify fogging at all the Games venues and hold meetings on a regular basis. At the same time, it is a very tough task to check the disease when there is incessant rain and water logging. We are confident of checking it,' Singh said.
He said officials of the organising committee also visit various competition sites to check whether work is being done by the agencies.
With spurt in dengue cases in the capital, there is concern over spread of the disease during the Oct 3-14 Games, when the disease is at its peak. About 100,000 visitors are expected to throng the capital during the period.
